Chances are pretty good you are either sharing your Netflix account with someone else or you are taking advantage of someone elses good nature and using their log in info…well the streaming giant is out to try to put an end to that.
A small group of users have reported a pop up which requests that you verify that it is in fact your account by sending a verification code either to your phone or email. There is also an option to verify later which, for the moment, seems to be an easy work around.
While password sharing is extremely common for people using many streaming services is does technically go against their terms of service. Several accounts can be used on Netflix but they are supposed to be for people who are living in the same household.
For now it seems to just be a test of this feature but it does seem as if they plan to roll it out to all users. So if you are using your ex’s account you best hope you are still on good terms with them because you may need them to send you a code next time you are planning a binge session.
