Pregnancy and a newborn can be stressful enough for mothers without the added hassle of buying the new clothes they’ll need for themselves.
Owner Donna Basso opened Mama Bear Maternity after running into that exact problem herself. While still meeting the needs of local mothers, Basso has expanded her store online.
“When I was pregnant and then nursing my first child, there was NOWHERE in MH to buy maternity and nursing clothes,” writes one nominator. “Your only options were going to Calgary or ordering online and hoping for the best. And Mama Bear is such a local team player! I love how she supports and promotes other small shops.”
In addition to clothes, Mama Bear Maternity also sells items like teas, belly butter and baby wash.
Another nominator writes that the stores offers “great personalized service, and I really think the owner filled a much-needed niche in Medicine Hat.”
