We all know we should eat healthy with a balance of all the food groups. That’s where the Canada Food Guide usually helps but this year they have gone too far to keep us healthy.
They are suggesting we drastically reduce our intake of dairy. In particular milk, cheese and yogurt. They have come up with some alternative suggestions though. Instead of milk they suggest you try water…sounds delicious on your cereal. For cheese? Why not try legumes or unsalted nuts. Look for the all new KD Macaroni and Legumes.
At this stage the guide is only in draft form which has been shown to a few focus groups. Hopefully there are some cheese lovers in those groups that will have something to say about it and some changes are made before it’s released to the public.
The changes aren’t just the foods though..they have also done away with the delightful rainbow and looks like they are going with a simple list.
Nothing says ‘ignore what we have to say’ than removing the most delicious food group and making a list. Luckily Health Canada is amendment this is not the final version so there is still hope
