Christmas can be an expensive time..especially if you are the one cooking dinner. There are a few ways to make it cheaper though. Maybe a smaller Turkey, home brand cranberry sauce or just charge your family for dinner.
One Mother In Laws request for almost $30CAD per family member has gone viral but it’s quite the complicated situation. A user on a UK blog site posted that her partner’s family was the one charging for dinner and that she had no intention of going. That’s because they do separate family dinners. Her with her family, him with his. She invited him to her (free) family dinner but he has been enjoying dinner with his family including his Grandparents and siblings all his life.
Now he is torn as he feels that paying for dinner is ‘wrong’ even if it does help out your mother. He said he offered to bring a dessert instead of cash but his mother was having none of it.
There is one more twist to the story. The reason she has decided to ask the family to pay. Instead of spending the money AND time on the family dinner the mother plans to have the dinner professionally catered.
