I’ve always been a big fan of Disney. My family took 3 road trips in the car from Prince George, BC all the way down to Anaheim to go to Disneyland. We also stopped off at Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm. But the last time I was there was in 1997. This was around the time Disney was just building the expansion that is now California Adventure Park.
I grew up playing video games with my 2 older brothers. The reason my parents initially bought us the original NES was because my father was tired of having to share his Atari with us! I’ve had pretty much every console Nintendo has come out with and still have most of them. So this news is literally a dream come true…
Universal Studios Hollywood has confirmed that the construction of a Nintendo Theme Park is now under way!!!
According to early sketches of the layout, some of the areas will be Super Mario Galaxy, The Mushroom Kingdom, Super Smash Bros Stadium, Hyrule (Legend of Zelda), Yoshi’s Island and Donkey Kong Country.
Aside from the obvious “Mario Kart” I’m racking my brain at what types of rides and attractions I’d like to see there. I’m guessing Luigi’s Mansion will be similar to Disney’s Haunted Mansion. I wouldn’t be surprised if Donkey Kong Country features jungle gyms and lots of tree-houses. I’d love to see some sort of jousting style event for Super Smash Brothers. And I think we can expect to see lots of animal/farm related things in the Animal Crossing area.
Either way, I can’t wait for 2020 to come as that’s when it’s expected to be open. And it will likely take me that long to save up enough money for another vacation!
Here’s a teaser that Universal Studios Japan released about their park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzNrgRtOtnk
