The first movie, well I was late to the game in this series. I actually binge watched every season while the final season was airing and it was super hard to avoid spoilers. It looks as though Vince Gilligan is developing a 2 hour movie that is “connected” to the series “Breaking Bad”!
There’s not a ton of details at the moment. We’re not sure if it will be shown in theatres or air on TV or a video service like Netflix. We also don’t know if it will involve any of the characters from the series. However Bryan Cranston has confirmed that Vince is working on this project and that he would be more than willing to be a part of it… if Vince asks him.
The other movie will be animated and (hopefully) better than the live action film they did back in 1993 which was terrible! The founder and head of Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Secret Life of Pets) Chris Meledandri said that they’ll be taking a crack at making a feature length, animated film of Super Mario Bros!
Chris told Variety the fact that the original movie was done so poorly, it allows for a second chance to make something great. To ensure that it will be great, Illumination will be doing something that the creators of the 1993 attempt didn’t do… work with the original creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto.
Meledandri went on to say “We are keeping him (Miyamoto) front and center in the creation of this film. I’ve rarely seen that happen with any adaptation where the original creative voice is being embraced like we’re embracing Miyamoto. There’s a history in Hollywood of people believing that they know better than the people responsible for a property. I’ve made that mistake before.”
No story details were mentioned but I’m going to guess that the “Princess is in another castle” will likely be part of it. All we know is that it could be out as early as 2022.
